The ballot for this year’s annual meeting contains two votes. The normal vote to fill SSLA Board seats and a very important vote on recommended amendments to our By-Laws. The suggested amendments are in your Annual Meeting packets that you should have received by now. These amendments will bring SSLA into compliance with Minnesota statutes and will also allow for electronic communication with owners. The current Board has unanimously recommended that you vote Yes on these amendments.
Silver Creek Sanitary Sewer District Update 7/18/11
Regarding The Town of Silver Creek and it’s effort to proceed with a new sanitary sewer district serving that property which lies along Highway 61 to the tunnel at Silver Creek Cliff. In June, Keith met with the Town’s Representative, Mr. Mike Hoops, along with with Mr. Joe Re of Jensen/Re Partners and Mr. Darrin Young of Superior Shores Resort. Mr. Hoops indicated The Town had been advised by it’s Legal Counsel that it would be illegal to assess the Superior Shores resort and/or the Superior Shores Lakehome Association for a sanitary sewer improvement because both entities already are served by contract for this service by The City of Two Harbors. Upon learning of this decision, Keith’s primary concern for our Association is that instead of an "assessment" for the sanitary sewer project, the concern now may be one of potential "annexation" into The City of Two Harbors thus forcing us to conform to any number of City codes, restrictions, and taxation issues. Therefore, the Board recommends to all of our owners that they consider signing the petition as sent to them by The Town of Silver Creek in order to help move this project forward. There are many reasons for this: to help maintain a clean environment, to help maintain property values along the North Shore, and to demonstrate our commitment to good citizenship and stewardship. The condo owners at Superior Shores Resort have voted unanimously to support the project as well.

Greetings to SSLA Owners,
This is to notify you that your Board of Directors is dedicated to going "green" and to insure our continued communication to all owners regarding Association business and concerns.
The SSLA Board has targeted the first quarter of 2012 as the date we will go paperless. We will post pertinent information on our Association website at www.superiorshores.net. Issues such as:
- updates to the potential construction of a new sanitary sewer project by The Town of Silver Creek, (feel free to contact Mr. Mike Hoops, Chairman of The Town of Silver Creek at 218-391-4003 for additional details)
- possible annexation of our property by The City of Two Harbors
- notifications such as pertinent dates of BoD Meetings, Annual Meetings and Elections as well as other important issues/events that may arise
If you haven’t yet familiarized yourselves with our WEBSITE, please log on and give it a good look. I think you will be pleased but keep in mind the site is a work in progress, changes and improvements will be ongoing and we welcome your suggestions for more. The home page features a menu of documents, local points and events of interest, notices, and a "weather window" giving the current weather conditions in Two Harbors (updated every hour or so) which is very useful when trip planning.
All owners received log-in information in October along with our annual meeting mailing. If you cannot log in to "members log" to update information on your ownership, please contact board Secretary, Bill D’Amour at wdamour@comcast.net
As always, thank you for your cooperation and be sure the Association and our beautiful North Shore Gem is in good hands.
Sincerely yours,
Keith Anderson, SSLA President
